Rant: Connected Kerb EV Charging App Deposit

It’s time for a rant about Connected Kerb and charging networks in general, who require a sizeable downpayment ahead of charging. I’ve had to transfer £50 for a network I’ll only be using occasionally. With 10 different charging apps on my phone already (and 5 for parking), isn’t it time that these networks moved to contactless payments, or that there was one app to rule them all? If they’re all sitting on £50 of our cash, that mounts up to a pretty penny…

An update (11/6): Connected Kerb contacted me on Twitter to say: “Thank you for flagging this. We have now updated our app and drivers will be able to top-up from £10, with a 10% bonus. We encourage feedback from our community so that we can keep improving our service.” Well done for listening and making a change….
