Mrs G3 and I have been looking at moving house, so have been to a few housing developments and it’s got me thinking about new house sustainability. Whilst the developments offer all sorts of customisable options for new build houses, the ones we’ve visited all insist on fitting a gas boiler – there’s no option to have an air source heat pump instead.
And they all insist on fitting a bathtub in the main bathroom – there’s no option to swap it out for a shower. Considering we’re looking to get an energy and resource efficient home, we’d love to have the efficiency of a heat pump (and not be dependent on burning fossil fuels). And we’d also love to cut down on our water usage by having short showers. Why on earth won’t the local developers allow those options?!
