Growing More Squash Plants

For this top tip I look at how to grow more squash plants, by making use of the space and nutrients in your compost bin. I’ve managed to get extra Butternut Squash and Courgettes through using all available space. Squash plants do love decomposing compost and all the nutrients they bring. I bury one end of a small piece of drain pipe into the ground near each plant to make it easier to water. Squash plants do need a lot of water, so that makes it easier to keep them well watered when there’s lots of leaf growth.

If you try growing squash plants using a frame, to lift them off the ground, you may find my eco plant support suggestion useful. If you’re growing tomatoes you may also be interested in my way of preserving tomatoes. Plus my trial of growing drainpipe peas may be of interest.

I’ve been asked a few times what kit I use, so here’s a breakdown of what I use. These are affiliate links – I will earn a small commission if you click and buy the item.
